There's always next year. Take it easy and we'll plan another adventure. I am pretty sure that the trails in Arizona are guaranteed by the state to be "bad back friendly," so come on down this winter!

Bill and I have been enjoying your blog.

Ouch!!! I have occasional back issues and hurt just reading about your injury. Thank goodness you had Adam and Susan and park staff close by. Take care and do your back exercises if they are appropriate.

Wishing you a speedy recovery,
Larry & Bill in San Diego

Bert, sorry to read about your "slip up"on the Chilkoot, but you made it another adventure none the less.

People are the "best" and given a chance, come through for us when we need them the most. Today's "young folk" impress me the most. The world and its' future is and will be in very good hands. We "older folk" are leaving them a mess, but that is the way of life. The "new" ones come along and clean it up, stay too long leading the party and then make a new mess and challenge to be dealt with ..... and so the world turns!

I'm glad you made it out on your own (more or less), but then again you were with some good friends to lend support. Thank you Susan and Adam for being there with Bert.

Glad you've made it back safely Bert. Even the most prepared hiker runs into unexpected incidents and minor accidents that can threaten a hike and cause severe injury. The one thing I've found you can always count on.....other hikers! Glad Adam and Susan were with you!
