    Perhaps one of the most revered of all Gwich'in, Sarah Abel was born along the Yukon River before the turn of the 20th Century. Had she lived another year, her life would have spanned three centuries. Because no one maintained records in those days, her age could not be determined with certainty. What is know is that in the early days, she followed her parent's nomadic life style, moving with the season of the salmon, the pulse of the caribou.
